About Us : Our Story

James Burton Construction was founded on a belief that has never wavered: that doing things properly is always worth it.

James started where many great builders start, on site, as a labourer, learning the trade from the ground up. That early experience shaped everything. A respect for the work, an understanding of what it actually takes to build something well, and a conviction that quality and honesty are never things worth compromising on.

Over time, that approach became a reputation. Not built overnight, but earned slowly through consistency, word of mouth, and an uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship.

Clients began to expect more than just a finished building. They came to expect care, detail, and a team that would still be there long after the work was done.

Welcome from the team at James Burton Construction

Today, our team brings over 60 years of combined experience to every project.

The scale of what we take on has grown. The values have not.

We are a family business in the truest sense.

Personal, hands-on, and proud of what we build.

Meet the JBC Team

James Burton
Managing Director

Before James ran his own company, he was on site as a labourer, cleaning up behind other trades and learning every aspect of the industry from the bottom up. He could not have imagined then what he was building towards. Twenty-five years later, he leads a team delivering some of the most considered and carefully crafted bespoke homes in Wiltshire and the surrounding area.

What has never changed is what drives him. Taking a bare plot of land and turning it into somebody's home. Carrying a project in his mind long before the first foundations are dug, working through the detail, anticipating what could go wrong, and always looking for a better way to get it right.

His vision for James Burton Construction has always been about more than delivering a finished building. It is about building a legacy rooted in strong values, skilled people, and a standard of craftsmanship that endures. That commitment runs through everything the company does, from the way projects are planned and priced to the way clients are looked after long after handover.

" Doing a good job gives me purpose."

Emma
Company Secretary

Emma has been at the heart of James Burton Construction for over ten years. Working alongside her brother James, her role goes far beyond running the office. She is the person clients turn to when they have a question, want reassurance, or simply need to know how things are progressing.

She believes that how a client feels throughout a project matters just as much as the finished result, and she works hard to make what can feel like a daunting process feel manageable and clear. Communication, approachability, and genuine care are at the centre of everything she does. Many clients, she says, feel like part of the family by the time a project is done.

Outside of work, Emma gives a great deal of her time to Alderbury Football Club, where she serves as Chairperson. She finds the same reward there that she finds in her work: watching people grow in confidence, and seeing what becomes possible when a team pulls in the same direction. She also loves spending time with her family, getting away on holiday, and walking her dog.

"Doing a good job means delivering quality work while making every client feel confident, comfortable, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire process."

Carys
Project Administrator

Carys joined James Burton Construction three years ago and has become a vital part of how the business looks after its clients day to day. As a dedicated project administrator, she is the named point of contact on every job, making sure communication stays clear, nothing falls through the gaps, and clients always have someone they can reach.

What she loves most is the opportunity to show people what this team is truly capable of. The quality of the projects, the care that goes into them, and the passion that runs through everything JBC does. She takes real pride in being part of something worth showcasing.

When she is not at work, she is most likely in the garden or out with her dog.

"Doing a good job means achieving the outcome and overcoming whatever obstacles come along the way."

George
Project Manager

George brings 23 years of industry experience to James Burton Construction, and in the six years he has been with the team he has become a cornerstone of how projects are planned and delivered on site.

What drives him is straightforward: taking a client's vision and making it real. Not just delivering the finished result, but making the journey there as smooth, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. For George, a project done well is one that has been properly conceived, carefully planned, and executed to the highest standards, on time, on budget, and beyond what the client expected.

Outside of work, George is a passionate fisherman and a devoted rugby fan. He loves socialising with friends and spending time with his family.

"A good job is one that is well conceived, properly planned, and executed to the highest standards, delivering a finished product and a journey that genuinely exceeds our clients' expectations."

Our Values

Our Values

Some businesses put their values on a wall and leave them there. At James Burton Construction, our values show up in the way we work every single day.

Trust in the Craft

Every detail matters. From the foundations to the final finish, we care deeply about doing the job right. Quality is not something we talk about. It is something we are accountable to, on every project, without exception.

Empower People

We believe that when people are supported to grow, everyone benefits. That means investing in our team, developing skills from within, and creating an environment where people are proud of the work they do and the company they are part of.

Always Here to Help

We lead with generosity and honesty. Whether a client needs guidance before the first brick is laid or a team member needs support on a difficult day, we step in. We give more than we take.

Make it Last

We think long term in everything we do. The homes we build are made to stand the test of time. So is the business. Every decision we make, we ask ourselves whether it will make us stronger not just today, but in ten years. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our Apprenticeship Programme

Building the next generation of skilled tradespeople is something we take seriously at James Burton Construction.

James knows what it means to start at the bottom and learn the craft properly. That understanding is at the heart of our apprenticeship programme, which we offer annually to people who are serious about a career in construction.

Apprentices at JBC are supported through structured onboarding and training, mentored by experienced members of the team, and given a clear pathway forward. Whether that means progressing toward a leadership role, gaining formal qualifications, or simply building the skills and confidence to become an exceptional tradesperson, we invest in the journey.

We do not just build homes. We build careers

If you or someone you know is interested in an apprenticeship with James Burton Construction, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch via the office.
